Remember that Nicki Minaj vs. Mariah Carey catfight from Tuesday? Well, allegedly, it involved a little more than just a bunch of superfluous four-letter words on the set of 'American Idol'.

A source told TMZ that Nicki lobbed a death threat at Mariah. "If I had a gun I would shoot her." Classy.

I wonder if the source sounded vaguely like someone from Team Mariah.

Although much of the fracas was caught on video, the shoot-Mariah-with-a-gun part was not. How convenient. You can, however, hear Nicki at one point yell to Mariah, "Off with your head! Off with your head!"

'Idol' producer Nigel Lythgoe shed a little light on the whole hullabaloo earlier today.

"The statement [that Nicki made a death threat] is absolute rubbish. It's absolutely not true in any way, shape or form." Nigel went on to say that Mariah's people are stirring the pot and told her Nicki threatened to shoot her.

God, I can't wait for this show to start!
