When something tragic happens in our nation, it can be hard to figure out how to be funny in the midst of it. Saturday Night Live has made a craft of figuring out when and how to bring the funny back while still naming and honoring the tragedy.
Saturday Night, SNL started on-time, as planned, but with a different open than we are used to. The sketch comedy show usually opens with a current events type sketch which ends with the words, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" This Saturday, however, the New York Childrens Choir opened the show singing "Silent Night."
Classy, beautiful, perfect. Well done, SNL.
