When it comes to scripted TV, there are few shows these days that I believe deserve an extra helping of praise. So, when one crops up, I like to heap a whole lot of love all over it. Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 is one of those shows. The writing is fantastic, the character development is perfect for a lighthearted half hour laugh fest, and the actors are perfectly cast.
James Van Der Beek plays an exaggerated version of himself post Dawson's Creek and still trying to make a go of it, with ego set firmly in place.
The B----, played by Krysten Ritter is less of a B----, and more of a misguided social climber with no intentions which balances perfectly against the naive, innocent Dreama Walker playing the B----'s room-mate, June Coburn. NYC serves as a backdrop for the comedy.
The show returns on ABC Tuesday evening. Pay special attention to the fine details, there is cohesive humor all around on Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23. Tune in locally to KSTP-TV Channel 5 at 8:30.
