Ashley Tisdale has signed on to be the female lead in Scary Movie 5.

The High School Musical star will appear in the Malcolm Lee directed film which is the latest in the hit comedy franchise.

It is unknown if Anna Faris will reprise her role of Cindy Campbell which she has played in the previous four flicks.

But there have been rumors that Regina Hall and Anthony Anderson will be back on board for the genre spoof.

The latest film will apparently target psychological thrillers like Black Swan and will portray the story of three dancers two new and one veteran who are vying for the leading role in a stage show, according to Deadline.

Since hanging up her High School Musical hat in 2008, Ashley has only starred in three motion pictures but has hit the small screen in several TV shows including Hellcats.

There has been other good news in Ashley's life recently as she reportedly reunited with ex-boyfriend Scott Speer. They broke up last December after two years of dating but rekindled their romance last month.
