Fred Durst once spent five figures on a watch with the intention that he'd pass it down if he ever had children who weren't "likely to pawn it".

The 41-year-old Limp Bizkit star has revealed an extravagant purchase he once made with family on his mind.

Fred - who has a daughter called Adriana - once bought a luxury timepiece with the intention of passing it down his blood line.

"Back in '98 or '99, I bought a watch for something like $90,000. A few of my friends had bought them and for some reason I said, 'I'm going to do it too, and I'm going to save it and if ever I have children that are not likely to pawn it I'll give it to them,'" he quipped in an interview with Kerrang! magazine.

Fred regretted the impulse buy shortly afterwards. However, the star was able to make the money back pretty quickly, which put his mind at ease.

"It was unbelievable actually standing there buying it, but I didn't wear it that much and I felt kinda stupid having it," he added.

"In the end, I was able to sell it quite quickly and get the money back."
