Patrick Duffy insists he can be "ugly and angry" when he wants to be.

The actor is reprising his role as popular Dallas character Bobby Ewing in the new edition of the hit drama series.

Patrick is often told he exudes the same "niceness" as his famed onscreen character, but insists he does have his more unsavory side too.

"I am always grateful when somebody says that," he told the UK edition of OK! magazine.

"Everybody has every kind of trait. I can be ugly and angry and all those things. But I prefer to accentuate the positive side of human nature and control those tendencies."

Patrick is a Buddhist. The 63-year-old thinks the religion makes him a better person.

"It makes you a more aware person. At times I don't want to acknowledge I've behaved like an a**hole. But I get to look back and say, 'I did that and it was really wrong and it is my determination to correct my behavior pattern,'" he said.
