Actor Josh Hartnett regrets not starting a family earlier because he’s having a “beautiful” experience as a new dad.
The Pearl Harbor star and girlfriend Tamsin Egerton welcomed a baby girl last year (2015), and Josh admits fatherhood has change his whole perspective on life.
“She’s the apple of my eye, she’s perfect in every way, I’m in love,” he told Live with Kelly and Michael on Wednesday.
“I mean your ego just kind of melts away when you have a new kid,” he continued. “Your heart kind of leaves your body and you give it permission to walk around with someone else for a while. It’s really terrifying, but it’s beautiful. I love it more than anything.
“I wish I would have started earlier. I’m so glad she’s the one that I’m raising. The best moments are when you get those individual moments in the middle of the night alone, those moments in the middle of the night are absolutely (precious).”
Josh insists fatherhood has also changed the way he looks at work too and he and has turned his focus to providing for his family.
“Because of her the perspective, work has shifted as well,” he added. “I used to be a little more precious of what I was choosing to work on, because I was so worried about how my career was going to come across and now with her I’m like, ‘That works, I got to make money’.”
Hartnett and Egerton met on the set of the film Singularity, but they didn’t begin dating until after the filmed wrapped in 2012.
