Adam Levine’s stylist: ‘His clothes need to match his moves’

Adam Levine is very specific with his stage outfit choices because he moves around so much.

The Maroon 5 frontman recently played to a global audience during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and while some critics dismissed the gig as boring, Adam and his bandmates called it a dream come true.

When it comes to dressing the Moves Like Jagger singer for such events, his stylist Matt Goldman, told The Hollywood Reporter: “He’s very specific, because he moves a lot and he is energetic. You can’t just throw anything on him.”

The Voice judge’s wardrobe also got people talking at the recent sporting final, with social media users likening his chequered Dries Van Noten tank top to a design seen on throw cushions from U.S. store Target.

He also wore Lanvin pants and a Yves Saint Laurent belt for the Halftime Show, though Matt points out the 39-year-old was keen to do things his own way when it came to his outfit.

“All of a sudden, Adam looked at me and said, ‘Can we just do our own thing?’” he recalled. “And I said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’ We just wanted it to feel natural to him. We didn’t want to come into this event and push something that wasn’t what he wanted to do.

“The truth is that I was a little apprehensive coming into the fitting because Adam can wear everything, so it could have been anything. He doesn’t normally do fittings. But on this one, he really wanted to see some stuff, so we played around a little more than usual, which was really fun. And I feel like we landed somewhere that gives him his vibe.”
