Alec Baldwin’s talk show pulled from Sunday nights after arrest

Alec Baldwin’s talk show has been pulled from Sunday nights by network ABC in the wake of the actor’s recent arrest.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Alec Baldwin Show will no longer air at 10pm on Sunday nights, and will instead be broadcast in the less desirable time slot of 10pm on Saturdays. The outlet reports that the Sunday episodes will cease on 18 November (18), and repeats of reality show Shark Tank, among other programmes, will air in the slot. Alec’s Saturday show will start airing on 8 December.

The news comes after the 30 Rock star was arrested and charged with assault and harassment over an alleged altercation over a parking space in New York last Friday.

Following news of his arrest going public, Alec took to Twitter to deny that he “punched anyone over a parking spot”.

“Normally, I would not comment on something as egregiously misstated as today’s story. However, the assertion that I punched anyone over a parking spot is false,” he tweeted on Friday. “I wanted to go on the record stating as much. I realise that it has become a sport to tag people was many negative charges and defaming allegations as possible for the purposes of clickbait entertainment.”

He added: “Fortunately, no matter how reverberating the echos (sic), it doesn’t make the statements true.”

As well as his arrest undoubtedly having an impact on ABC’s decision to move his talk show slot, the programme has also been faring badly in the ratings.

The premiere episode in October attracted just two million same-day viewers, with that figure dropping to 1.5 million total viewers for its 4 November programme.

And it seems Alec pre-empted that the show may not last, as he said during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter: “We’re making a good show here. I mean, who knows if we survive? ABC’s not doing very well. We could get out there, show four or five episodes, and be dead.”
