Amanda Gorman signs with IMG Models

Poet Amanda Gorman has signed with IMG Models after her show-stopping appearance on Inauguration Day.

The 22-year-old delivered her powerful original poem, The Hill We Climb, as Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States during the ceremony held at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. on 20 January.

Gorman wore a bright yellow double-breasted Prada coat, complemented by a red satin headband also by the Italian fashion house, and her appearance at the event made waves on social media, with many praising her for addressing the issues in America in her poem.

She joined the leading modeling agency on 25 January, and under the guidance of the firm, she will “expand her personal brand through endorsements and editorial opportunities”.

Gorman’s career is going from strength to strength, and she’s no stranger to the fashion industry.

Back in 2019, she worked alongside designer Miuccia Prada as a reporter for Prada on their sustainability mission.

She became America’s first national youth poet laureate in 2017, and graduated from the prestigious Ivy League institution Harvard University last year.

Her poem The Hill We Climb brought worldwide attention to her creative talents, and she revealed that she was inspired to write it after the Capitol riots in Washington D.C. earlier this month.

“We lift our gazes not to what stands between us, but what stands before us. We close the divide because we know to put our future first, we must first put our differences aside,” her poem read. “We lay down our arms so we can reach out our arms to one another, we seek harm to none and harmony for all.”
