Angelina Jolie is suffering from chicken pox.
The actress-turned-director recently discovered she’s fallen ill with the itchy viral infection, forcing her to cancel a series of promotional events for new movie Unbroken.
In a video message released by Universal Pictures, the mother-of-six says she “just wanted to be clear and honest” about why she’ll be absent in the coming days.
“I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I would be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days, which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox,” Angelina, 39, shrugged.
“So, I will be home itching and missing everyone and I can’t believe it because this film means so much to me. I just can’t believe it, but such is life. There it is. Send everyone my love and I hope everything goes well!”
Angelina released another official statement through the company. The star admits she could do nothing but find humor in the idea she had fallen ill at such an inconvenient time.
“You have to laugh at the timing. I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken,” she continued. “I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie’s family, Phil’s daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming.”
Unbroken tells the story of late American war hero Louis Zamperini.
The film, directed by Angelina, is slated for release later this month.0
