Anya Taylor-Joy was overjoyed when she got to keep all of her favorite costumes from “The Queen’s Gambit.”
The 24-year-old actress plays chess genius Beth Harmon in the Netflix show, set in the 1960s, and her chic wardrobe, designed by Gabriele Binder, has been a huge hit with fans.
During a recent interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Anya revealed that she was stunned when the costume designer told her she could take home all of the outfits from her character’s stylish closet.
“Because Gabriele and I worked so closely during the show, she just said ‘Honestly, babe, they’re yours. We found them together and you, Beth, the line is very blurry, so you should just take them home,'” the Emma star explained.
“And I was just overwhelmed by that kindness because I really wanted to keep a bit of Beth with me.”
However, because of the show’s huge success, becoming one of the most streamed shows in Netflix history, the outfits are now in a museum, ready to be put on display for fashion-loving fans.
“So, I do not know when I will get my clothes back.” Anya joked.
She also confessed that even when she gets her outfits back, they will stay in her apartment and will never be worn outside again, as she fears people will think she’s crazy.
“These beautiful costumes will parade around in my room for my own enjoyment,” the actress quipped.
