Ariana Grande vetoed a cameo from “Tiger King” star Carole Baskin in the video for her new Justin Bieber collaboration “Stuck With U.”
The singers called on a host of celebrity pals to appear in their lockdown-themed promo, including Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Demi Lovato, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Buble, Chance the Rapper, Jaden Smith, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
Each clip features the stars dancing and/or embracing a loved one onscreen in the conference call-style visual, and to tease the track’s release, Bieber took to social media on Thursday to post footage of Baskin and her husband Howard dressed up in matching animal-print outfits, complete with lion-head hats.
“Tonight. #stuckwithu . He ain’t going nowhere (sic),” Bieber captioned the snippet.
Grande then made it clear the Baskin would not actually pop up in the promo, commenting: “for the record, i did not allow or approve this clip to be in the actual video. but. nonetheless. it exists and that’s ….. unique (sic).”
The pop superstar did not elaborate on her reasons for blocking its inclusion, but Baskin told TMZ she was not offended that her submission had been rejected, and was just happy it made it to Bieber’s Twitter account.
Proceeds from Stuck with U are set to benefit officials at the First Responder Children’s Foundation, who are setting up grants and scholarships for children of front line workers impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
