Ashton Kutcher apparently wanted to “fool” people with his cryptic online photo earlier this month.
The 36-year-old actor set the rumor mill turning when he posted a snap on Facebook suggesting he and his fiancée Mila Kunis had tied the knot. It shows the words ‘Happy New Year’ engraved in sand on a beach, along with a heart shape and the words ‘The Kutchers.’

While many were quick to jump to the conclusion the pair had got married in secret over the holidays, it’s thought they were in fact playing a prank. Ashton’s love of hoaxes is no secret after he hosted popular TV show Punk’d, in which celebrities would be tricked by made-up situations.
“[They] have not gotten married yet,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “Ashton loves fooling people and because they handle their own publicity, they are totally aware of how to manipulate the press.”
And before posting the puzzling picture Ashton shared his sense of humor by adding a link to a page titled ’27 Pranks That Will Make You Laugh Until You Cry’.
This isn’t the first time Ashton and Mila, who have baby daughter Wyatt together, have sparked rumors they are husband and wife. In December the actress was photographed wearing a stunning diamond on her ring finger when she and her husband-to-be attended an LA Lakers basketball game.

The pair shared the happy news of their engagement in February of last year. Since welcoming little Wyatt in September both have been open about their love of parenthood, especially Ashton.
He gushed about Mila during an appearance of The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month.
“She’s the greatest mom,” he said. “I go to work every day, and I come home and she’s perfect. And it just seems like everything went amazing. And I know that something probably didn’t go amazing, but she never tells… it’s unbelievable. She’s incredible.”
