It’s a sad day for pop music lovers.
Legendary pop music singer Bobby Vee is dead at the age of 73 from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. Vee was born in Fargo, North Dakota and lived much of his life right here in Minnesota.
Vee got his big music break at just 15 years old, when he and his band stepped in to replace Ritche Valens, Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper at a Moorhead, Minnesota concert after they died in a plane crash (the incident remembered today as The Day the Music Died.)
Vee went onto record 13 Top 40 hits including his #1 hit single, “Take Good Care of My Baby.”
My favorite Bobby Vee song is “The Night has a Thousand Eyes” which reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1962.
Thanks for the music, Bobby. We’ll miss you…0
