Britney Spears delighted fans on Thursday night when she dropped her comeback single Make Me.
The 34-year-old singer hasn’t released any new material since “Pretty Girls,” her collaboration with Iggy Azalea that failed to set the charts alight in May 2015.
Make Me, featuring rapper G-Eazy, shot to the top of the US iTunes single sales chart just hours after its release.
When Britney was informed of her success by a fan on Twitter, she replied: “This is an incredible feeling. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! #MakeMe.”
Make Me is the first single from Britney’s upcoming ninth studio album, which she has been working hard on for the past few months.
Speaking recently about her next record, Britney told V magazine: “It’s not what you would think at all. It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”
Britney has also been kept busy with her Piece of Me residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, which she is set to continue until 2017.0
