Caitlyn Jenner ‘ready to wow at ESPYs’

Caitlyn Jenner has reportedly tried on at least 20 outfits ahead of tonight’s ESPY Awards.

The former Olympian is to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ceremony in Los Angeles, in honor of her transition. It will mark the first time Caitlyn, who used to be known as Bruce, has attended a major event and it’s claimed she is going all out to ensure she wows.

According to ET Online, Caitlyn has already tried on 20 outfit combinations as she is so determined to look her best.

“There’s no way to predict how this is all going to unfold but I think Caitlyn’s done an amazing job,” Ryan Seacrest, who is behind Caitlyn’s family’s TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, explained.

Caitlyn has six biological children and is also helped raised Kim, Khloé, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian before her divorce from Kris Jenner. It’s thought some of them will be attendance tonight as they recognize what a milestone this is for the star.

However, ET suggests Caitlyn isn’t ready to walk the red carpet yet and will instead make a low-key entrance.

“We’ve been watching Caitlyn since her debut and every interview that she has given has been in a very controlled environment,” ET’s Liz Applegate suggested. “She’s never agreed to walk the red carpet and that was a very calculated and media-savvy move, because the red carpet is a very brutal place to be. This way she can control what the story is.”

Caitlyn debuted herself on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine at the beginning of June, having confirmed her transition during a TV interview in April. She has kept fans updated with her new life via a series of blog posts, profusely thanking people for their unwavering support and this week answering some fan questions.

Among them was what had sparked her decision to transition at the age of 65. Caitlyn chose to be very honest about why she had to be true to herself.

“I firmly believe that there are intensity levels of being trans. For example, a boy at a young age – four or five-years-old – might refuse to wear guy clothes and will only wear dresses,” she wrote.

“Then there are others, like me, who can (kind of) live with it for a long time, even though it’s very uncomfortable.”

She went on: “I had all of the issues, but I was growing up in a very different time and I had no information. Meanwhile, I had all of my diversions — sports…this…that…married…family — but after 65 years, here I was right back with the same problems that I had when I was 10 years old and I had to finally do something about that.”

The ESPYs air Wednesday night at 6 p.m. CST on ABC. The pre-show will be on ESPN.
