Caitlyn Jenner ‘unlikely to face car crash charges’

Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner is unlikely to be charged in connection to a February car crash, it has been claimed.

The reality TV star, who was known as Bruce at the time of the incident but has since transitioned, was involved in a fatal four-car collision on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Her car hit another vehicle and there were claims she was driving too fast and could be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

According to TMZ, this is now unlikely.

The Los Angeles County district attorney has reportedly been looking into the incident and is believed to feel it was a terrible accident.

A 161-page report was put together by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and this has now been studied closely. Apparently the crucial piece of information is that Caitlyn braked before her car hit a Lexus. The driver of that car died, but it’s thought the fact that the former Olympic athlete attempted to slow her car means she was trying to stop the collision happening.

Technically Caitlyn could be charged with vehicular manslaughter as she didn’t slow enough, but criminal charges aren’t automatic. And it seems in this case they won’t be filed – although cops are apparently deciding on the course of action to take this week.

Caitlyn has been sued twice in connection with the deadly auto collision.

In May the family of the late Kim Howe brought a case against her for wrongful death and in June wreck survivor Jessica Steindorff sought legal action.

Shortly after the accident, the reality TV star issued a statement detailing how sorry she was.

“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Caitlyn, at the time known as Bruce, said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

“It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
