Caitlyn Jenner ‘won’t be prosecuted for manslaughter’

Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner reportedly won’t be prosecuted for manslaughter related to February’s (15) fatal car crash because her conduct was “negligent, not criminal”, but Los Angeles’ District Attorney could still overturn that decision.

The former Olympic athlete, who was known as Bruce at the time of the accident but has since transitioned, was involved in a four-car collision on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Her vehicle collided with another and it was claimed she had been driving too fast. Caitlyn braked before she hit the Lexus, but the driver of the car died.

TMZ now reports “well-placed sources” at Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office say the people assigned to review the case deem Caitlyn’s involvement “negligent” rather than criminal. This means she wouldn’t be charged for vehicular manslaughter.

However, the D.A., Jackie Lacey, could still turn that decision around. The outlet claims she could ignore the conclusions and file criminal charges, although it’s looking unlikely.

Back in August (15) TMZ revealed the crucial information in the case is that Caitlyn did attempt to slow her car, meaning she tried to prevent the accident.

She has already been sued twice in connection with the fatal collision. Once in May (15), when the late Kim Howe’s family filed a case against her for wrongful death. Then in June (15) wreck survivor Jessica Steindorff also took legal action.

Caitlyn issued a statement shortly after the accident.

“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Caitlyn, at the time known as Bruce, expressed to Access Hollywood.

“It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
