Actor Casey Affleck has split from his wife Summer Phoenix.
A representative for the Gone Baby Gone star confirmed the news to America’s InTouch magazine on Wednesday (16Mar16), saying that the pair decided to break-up after nearly 10 years of marriage.
“Casey and Summer have amicably separated,” the representative said. “They remain very close friends.”
In spite of the split, Casey, 40, and Summer, 37, are continuing to co-parent their sons Indiana, 11, and Atticus, eight.
An insider told InTouch that various issues have factored into the couple deciding to go their separate ways.
“She was having a lot of trust issues,” the source noted. “They went to couples counselling but they just couldn’t recover.”
Summer, a former child star, was introduced to Casey by her actor brother Joaquin Phoenix. The couple married in Savannah, Georgia in 2006 and resided as a family in Los Angeles where Summer runs a vintage clothing boutique.
Casey, the younger brother of actor Ben Affleck, has been a rising star in Hollywood in the past few years, starring opposite Christian Bale in 2013 drama Out of the Furnace and playing a lead role in John Hillcoat’s heist thriller Triple 9 which was released in February (16).
Casey is also signed on to star as explorer Meriwether Lewis in an upcoming HBO miniseries and is tipped to be taking on a leading role in the film Boston Strangler, about the serial killer Albert DeSalvo, which is set to be directed by Mark Romanek.
