A computer wrote this Christmas carol. Say what?

If this was good, I’d be scared. Humans should be writing music, but this is still worth the listen…and the laugh.

The technology called “neural karaoke” is fascinating.  Researchers at the University of Toronto scanned in a picture of a Christmas tree; the program analyzed it and composed this song using artificial intelligence.

The lyrics:

Lots to decorate the room
The Christmas tree is filled with flowers
I swear it’s Christmas Eve
I hope that’s what you say
The best Christmas present in the world is a blessing
I’ve always been there for the rest of our lives
A hundred and a half hour ago
I’m glad to meet you
I can hear the music coming from the hall
A fairy tale
A Christmas Tree
There are lots and lots and lots of flowers

There is one redeeming quality. Dawn, “well…at least that line makes sense and is a good one.”

She’s referring to the line “The best Christmas present in the world is a blessing.”

Touche.
