Demi Lovato’s friends requested ‘no sirens’ from first responders after alleged overdose

Demi Lovato’s friends asked paramedics to arrive at her house quietly without sirens when responding to her alleged overdose, audio of a 911 call has revealed.

The pop superstar was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Tuesday (24Jul18), after emergency responders were called to her Hollywood Hills home.

Her representatives have since confirmed that she is awake and in hospital but said that initial reports alleging she had suffered a heroin overdose contained information that was “incorrect”. editors have obtained audio of the 911 call, in which the caller can be heard asking the dispatcher if the driver would cut their vehicles’ sirens, a request he denied.

“No, no, no, this is a medical emergency,” the emergency worker said. “I don’t have control over that.”

He also asked the caller to “stay with the patient” and gather up any medications and told them paramedics would be there “as fast as possible”, before remaining on the line until help arrived.

L.A. fire department staff then called the Los Angeles Police Department, who sent officers to the scene. Officials have since confirmed the star will not face a criminal investigation into the incident.

The 25-year-old, who battled substance abuse problems as a teen but had been sober since 2011, was reportedly found unconscious, and medics administered Narcan, a drug that counters the affects of opioids. Outlining the seriousness of the situation, a source told TMZ, “She could have died”.

However, sources close to the star denied the early reports she had overdosed on heroin. She is still recovering in hospital where she has been visited by her ex-boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama.

Demi recently seemed to confess she was struggling to maintain her sobriety in her new single Sober, and in recent weeks had cut ties with her coach. According to TMZ, members of the musician’s team wanted her to attend rehab before the alleged overdose.

The singer’s hospitalization has forced the cancellation of several gigs, including one in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Thursday – where devoted fans staged their own impromptu concert to wish her a speedy recovery.
