Drake put on a great show at the Xcel Energy Center on Sunday night!
I had never really been to a hip hop concert before, and I loved the experience of seeing what people wore, observing how a single person onstage can engage the crowd, and simply how much the music makes you want to dance!
The visual experience was different than say a Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber concert, but it was no less exciting.
Instead of a wild color display characteristic of so many pop concerts, Drake and his accompanying performers utilized more gray-scale images onscreen, moving structures onstage, smoke and fire.
Midway through Drake’s performance, these effects were combined with brilliant colored orbs that descended from the ceiling, and returned numerous times in different hues for the remainder of the night.
This was really cool. The effect was the orbs was profound, even beautiful.
It was also fun how often Drake referred to the Saint Paul/Minneapolis crowd, and when he told us to make noise for Rihanna, because he was going to send her a video of it later (THEY’RE IN LOVE!), not to mention his completely unabashed, still terrible dancing.
What’s not to love? Alexis and I along with a lovely group of myTalkers, had an awesome time.
