Dua Lipa wanted to challenge herself by having three costume changes during her performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
The 25-year-old singer, who scooped the Best Pop Vocal Album gong for Future Nostalgia at the ceremony on Sunday, took to the stage during the socially-distanced bash for her show-stopping set.
During the performance, she sang her hits Levitating and Don’t Start Now, and wowed with three custom-made Atelier Versace outfits, starting with a voluminous duchesse fuchsia cape, complete with crystal-encrusted choker, before changing into a Swarovski-embellished blazer with matching boots.
She then stripped off to reveal a sparkly lilac and rose bralette and briefs set, emblazoned with a metallic version of Versace’s iconic Medusa emblem, as she was joined on stage by back-up dancers in matching pink Versace outfits.
“There’s always gonna be a little bit of pressure when you’re performing at the Grammys for sure, so I was a little bit nervous, but I was very excited,” she told reporters in the press room backstage at the Grammys.
“You know we did so much rehearsals and preparation for it and you know I just wanted to do something fun, something I’ve never done before, I wanted to challenge myself a little bit, whether it was from the outfit changes to the choreography to you creating a little bit of drama in a performance that I felt grew as the performance went on.”
