On Thursday’s show, we learned that Judy Blume’s YA novel “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” is going to be made into a film.
Which got us on the topic of our favorite reads growing up.
My absolute favorite book as a child was Jean Craighead George’s “My Side of the Mountain,” about a boy who basically escapes to and lives off of the wilderness. He lives in a tree with a bunch of friendly animals. And mostly no people.
Childhood escapism at its best.
I’d love for the book to become a film again. I remember watching the 1969 original film based on the book in fourth grade. Both the movie and book sparked my imagination for years.
Every now and then, I still think about a life in the wood with animals and no people. I mean, have you watched the news lately?
