Emma Watson and boyfriend Matthew Janney have split.
The 24-year-old actress started dating Matthew, a 22-year-old student and rugby player at Oxford University, at the end of 2013.
But the pair have called time on their romance a month ago, with Emma’s intensely busy work schedule leaving her little time to focus on the relationship.
A spokesperson for the actress confirmed the break-up to the Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye, adding that things are still “amicable” between the pair.
The publication also reported that despite claims, Emma and Matthew had not moved in together.
Following the news of Emma and Matthew’s romance breaking, his guardian Coralie Day heaped praise on the actress and student.
“We are thrilled to bits that he is seeing Emma Watson,” she told Britain’s Evening Standard. “We are looking forward to meeting her soon.
“Hats off to her for finding such a wonderful young man. There is nothing bad anyone could say about Matt. He is absolutely lovely.”
In May, Emma graduated from Brown University, five years after starting as a freshman.
The British star also took a year off in 2011, but was determined to finish her education off properly. Emma admitted she found it challenging going to university when everyone know who she was and would scrutinize her.
“On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned to look at me,” she told The Sunday Times in March. “I had to say to myself, ‘It’s okay, you can do this. You just have to take a deep breath and gather your courage.'”
Emma certainly has her plate full with her various work commitments. She has just finished filming Regression alongside Ethan Hawke, and is now shooting Colonia Dignidad with Daniel Brühl.
She will then move on to filming La La Land, a film about a jazz musician who falls in love with a blossoming actress, with Miles Teller.0
