It was a bittersweet ending to a terrible day. We lost one of our most beloved community members and one of the most iconic performers in the world.
I was sad. But I had paid for my tickets to see Amy Schumer at Target Center. Earlier in the day I saw her tweet regarding the loss of Prince; it made me feel good knowing she was sympathizing with us. So I went to the show. When my friends and I arrived at Target Center, we saw his symbol on the outside of the venue. Purple lights were everywhere. When we went inside and headed to our seats, Prince music blasting inside the arena and a purple P on the screen that hung above the stage.
She came out with a bottle of wine, spilled a little on the stage and said “For Prince”. She then thanked everyone for coming; she wasn’t sure we would. And the show begain.
Deep tragedy. I’m so sorry for your loss Minneapolis. We will try and cheer you up for at least a little while tonight. #RIPPrince
