Hunter McGrady has criticised the lack of representation for plus-size pregnancies.

Back in March, the 27-year-old model announced she was expecting her first child with husband Brian Keys, and in a recent post on Instagram, she discussed her frustration at plus-sized pregnant women being treated like they “don’t exist”.

“Plus size and pregnant. Being plus size the representation already falls incredibly short, but being plus size AND pregnant? Forget it. When I embarked on this journey I was excitedly googling pregnancy, plus size pregnancy, bump pictures, updates, all the things! However, I never saw myself represented,” Hunter wrote, alongside a mirror selfie of her showcasing her baby bump.

“There aren’t any plus size pregnant women on magazine covers, advertisements, television, or even the brochure’s at the OBGYN office. It’s almost as if we don’t exist, like we’re an anomaly. I’m here to tell you that you are not a ‘one off’ you’re not wrong for being plus size and pregnant, your body is equipped for this,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue model added.

She said that while she was aware that she “wouldn’t have options” for plus-sized maternity wear, and that her body would change, she wasn’t prepared for “how much the plus size pregnancy representation lacks”.

This is the first child for Hunter, who wed Brian wed in 2019, and the model is already stepmother to his daughter from a previous marriage.
