I guess I’ll be “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” this season. And I hate myself for it.
Knowing that the season premiere was on Sunday night, I had to make a decision, record the episode, or record the series, and I went for the series. And then I justified it for myself.
Here’s why: I have a HUGE Bruce Jenner sensitivity now that we know that he is transitioning. So, I’m curious how it will be handled on this season of KUWTK. So far, I have to say, it’s awkward.
In the season premiere episode, the girls are overly concerned about Bruce’s relationship with a friend of Kris’. We watched this play out in the tabloids a little bit, and now we see their side of it. Kris calls Bruce selfish and the girls are visibly upset about Bruce’s choice to spend time with a friend of Kris’, though he maintains that he is not “dating” this un-named friend. I kept thinking, what if that woman is a confidant of sorts for Bruce. What if that is someone who he is able to confide in about the transition that he is going through when the rest of the family is unable to focus on anyone other than themselves or their career. And Kris is calling BRUCE selfish.
One thing to expect this season is to see Kim lying down a lot. And when you see her lying down, you can assume that she and Kanye just had sex. You see, Kim’s doctor told her to lie down for 10 minutes after she and Kanye have sex to increase their chances of getting pregnant again. So, Kim spends a lot of time in a robe lying down. Like the whole episode. And from the looks of it, most of the season.
Yes, I rolled my eyes as much as you probably imagine I did, and yes, I sighed that sigh of annoyance that one sighs when one finds themselves engrossed in the lives of lavishly self-absorbed people like the Kardashians. There’s good news for you, though. I’m committed to the season. So, I’ll be Keeping Up With The Kardashians so you don’t have to.
