Maya & Marty premiered on NBC last night to mixed reviews, but I loved it!
Yes, it had some highlights and lowlights, but I see a lot of potential in this SNL spinoff.
I wonder if people are quick to judge it because it’s such a spinoff, but what’s wrong with having two of a show that’s had such a storied and successful career? I love being able to see more of current and former cast members like Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Tina Fey, Kate McKinnon, Kenan Thompson, etc. etc. etc.
Not to mention, the show is doing some things differently than SNL, or any other program on television for that matter. I loved at the end of the show when they featured the a dance and song from the Broadway show “Shuffle Along.” Where else are you going to see that on TV?

I’ve seen the bad reviews, but I really do think this show has potential. It certainly has the star power.
Here were a few of my other favorite moments from the night.
Miley Cyrus’ performance of “I’m Your Man” and “I’m A Woman”:
This Jiminy Glick sketch with Larry David. I was laughing out loud!
What did you think of the show? Are you going to watch it again?
