On Friday, Donna and I talked a lot about the mixed reviews for the reboot of “Ghostbusters,” which came out on Friday.
I saw the movie in IMAX 3D at Rosedale over the weekend, and I loved it!
I read this review before I saw the movie, and I agree with the author on one main scope when it comes to the film: one cannot meticulously compare the reboot to the original. Then you will be disappointed.
If you are someone who lives and dies by the original, you probably won’t like this movie, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a good movie.
As someone who hasn’t seen the original in awhile, and frankly, was terrified by it as a little girl, I went into the reboot with a vague recollection, but still an appreciation for the original.
And I laughed. I enjoyed the plot, the special effects, and especially the cast. For what the movie is — because in its essence, hunting down and capturing ghosts that look like Khaleesi and her dragons, it’s ridiculous — it’s a fun ride, and laugh out loud funny.
In fact, I give it 4 out of 5 Garys! 😉 (Because we like the name so much and don’t want it to go out of style, we’ve given “Gary” a permanent residence as our scale for rating our favorite TV shows, movies and music. It’s the Gary Scale!)
Did you see the new Ghostbusters? What did you think?
Email the show or call in around 9 am Monday morning to join the on-air conversation!
