Iris Apfel is marking her upcoming 100th birthday by launching an eyewear collection.
The fashion icon, known for her eclectic outfits and trademark black frame glasses, has partnered with the team at online eyewear retailer Zenni on the new range.
Featuring 100 different designs, each frame was hand-selected by Apfel.
“I think it’s very important to just be yourself, and not try to look like everybody else,” she insisted. “That’s what is so great about this collection – there are so many possibilities and so many unusual and beautiful colourways, you can really transform any outfit.”
The accompanying campaign was shot by fashion photographer Ruven Afanador and features Apfel posing up a storm in a pair of oversized black frames with white polka dots.
“Iris is one of the most iconic glasses lovers of all time, most known around the world for her bold look and oversized frames. We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership,” said Zenni’s Michelle Ticknor. “Iris loves to say, ‘More is more and less is a bore.’ This has been our north star building this first collection with her. Just like Iris, we believe your budget shouldn’t limit your style choices, and this collection makes it possible for our customers to have a very fashion-forward eyewear wardrobe of high-quality, affordable frames.”
Items in the Zenni X Iris collection are priced from $16.95 – $45.95 (£12 – £33). A second line is due to drop later in the year, closer to Apfel’s milestone birthday on 29 August.
