Jackie Collins has died from breast cancer aged 77.
The best-selling author and sister of screen star Jackie was famous for her romantic novels, with a career spanning over four decades and 500 million books sold around the globe.
She passed away in her Los Angeles home, her family has confirmed in a statement.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today,” her relatives told People magazine.
“She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over four decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.”
The publication also shared an unreleased interview with the late star, which was only conducted on September 14 2015. In it she revealed she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer six and a half years ago, but mainly kept the illness to herself.
“Looking back, I’m not sorry about anything I did,” she said.
“I did it my way, as Frank Sinatra would say. I’ve written five books since the diagnosis, I’ve lived my life, I’ve traveled all over the world, I have not turned down book tours and no one has ever known until now when I feel as though I should come out with it.”
Countless celebrities have shared their condolences, including her sister Joan, 82.
“She was my best friend. I admire how she handled this. She was a wonderful, brave and a beautiful person and I love her,” she shared.
Sharon Osbourne paid tribute to Jackie as well, sharing a photo of herself with her in which they’re both smiling.
“Shocked & devastated at the death of @JackiejCollins. Loved & respected her. Thoughts & prayers go out to her family. (sic)” Sharon captioned it.
Sir Roger Moore too paid his respects, along with the likes of Kris Jenner, Oprah Winfrey and Mel B.
Jackie is survived by her daughters Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.
