James Corden is on a mission to overhaul his lifestyle after becoming “sick and tired” of failing with diets for more than 15 years.
The 42-year-old funnyman, who has previously made light of his weight in TV shows such as sitcom Gavin & Stacey and Fat Friends, opened up on his decision to transform his diet and wellness after feeling fed up with the way he looks.
“I’ve realized that every year for the past decade – probably even 15 years – on January 1 I’ve told myself and anyone that would listen that this is it, this is the year, I’m going on a diet, I’m going to lose a load of weight,” Corden shared as he announced his new role as a WW (formerly Weight Watchers) spokesperson.
“I’ve never been able to stick to anything like that. I’ve spent a long time accepting that this is my body and that’s it. But I really am sick and tired of just doing the same thing every year.”
The Late Late Show host admitted he was stuck in a vicious cycle of eating everything at Christmas in order to start fresh with a new diet in January, but always ended up gaining weight.
“I’m fed up with the way I look, I’m fed up with being unhealthy, with ‘this is the year I’m doing it,'” Corden said.
The English star is determined to overhaul his lifestyle with WW, after realizing that his weight was “starting to get (him) down in a way”, after not being able to take part in activities with his wife Julia and their three young children.
“I want to change the way that I live. I want to be better for my children and for my family,” Corden stated. “I don’t want to wake up tired, or feel embarrassed when I’m chasing my son on the soccer field and out of breath after three minutes.
“I’m going to take this year and work towards getting healthy.”
