The cast of Arrested Development are in New York promoting the fifth series of the award-winning U.S. comedy, though the show has been hit by controversy due to the inclusion of Jeffrey Tambor, who has been accused of sexual harassment by two women.
On Monday, Tambor told Sirius XM host Jessica Shaw that he had apologised to his Arrested Development co-stars for any distress caused by the scandal.
“I sent an email around and said apologies to these people (the cast) I love so much for the distraction,” Tambor said. “You’ll be asked questions, and things like that.”
The 73-year-old actor, who portrayed ageing transgender woman Maura Pfefferman in pioneering comedy-drama Transparent, was accused of sexual harassment by his former assistant Van Barnes and actress Trace Lysette in November. Following an investigation by bosses at Amazon, who stream the show, Tambor left the series in February.
Discussing his departure from Transparent he added: “I’m no longer playing Maura – I’m going to miss her very much. I’m going to miss that cast that I love so much, and I wish them all the best.”
