The 41-year-old rapper shared a picture to Instagram on Tuesday (02Oct18) which appeared to show a plate of sauteed crickets, and revealed he and dad Ray would be chowing down on the unusual treat to mark his fantastic news.
“Overcome fear,” Kanye captioned the snap. “My dad and I are going to eat this plate of bugs to celebrate him beating cancer. No more fear.”
It was revealed in July that Ray had been diagnosed with the disease in his prostate, despite initial reports that he was fighting stomach cancer. Sources told People.com at the time that Ray was undergoing treatment and the outlook appeared to be positive.
“Kanye’s dad was diagnosed with cancer and is already receiving treatment,” an insider said. “He seems to be responding well to the treatment and everyone is hopeful he will be okay.
“Kanye doesn’t really talk about it. You can tell it’s something that’s very difficult for him.”
The news emerged almost 11 years after Kanye lost his mother Donda. She died in November, 2007, a day after undergoing a series of plastic surgery procedures.
According to reports, Kanye’s recent erratic behavior, including a pro-Donald Trump rant on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, is thought to be linked to the upcoming anniversary of Donda’s death.
“It happens every fall as we get close to the anniversary of his mom’s death,” a source told People. “He’s up in the middle of the night texting, calling, messaging everyone and he doesn’t make any sense. He’s rambling. His ideas aren’t always completely bad, but then he can’t communicate them and it gets confused in his own mind. He’s such a confused guy.”
