Katy Perry paid a visit to a sick fan in Australia on Tuesday (31Jul18) after she was too ill to attend her concert in Adelaide.
Grace Moores, eight, had been due to see the Firework hitmaker’s show on Monday, but she was too sick to go following brain surgery last week.
Her older sister Tiana began a campaign with the hashtag #HelpGraceMeetKatyPerry on social media, and on 25 July (18), she shared pictures of Grace in hospital, of the large surgery wound on the back of her head, and her head wrapped up in a bandage on Twitter.
“RETWEET PLEASE!” she wrote. “My baby sister is meant to attend @katyperry concert in Adelaide this year but was diagnosed with a 6cm Brain tumour and has been battling all year, grace has love been Katy’s biggest fan since she was 3, please help us try and get in contact with @katyperry (sic).”
The message was retweeted 22,000 times and it caught Katy’s attention, and her team reached out to the Moores family on Monday to arrange a house visit the following day, hours before the singer’s next Adelaide show.
On Tuesday, Tiana shared pictures of Katy, dressed in a pink leather jacket with white fringing, white top and blue jeans, posing with family members on a couch.
“GUYS WE DID IT! @katyperry just visited grace! She’s truely amazing and such a sweet person this was truely amazing (sic)!” she wrote.
Tiana also post clips on Snapchat of Katy hanging out with the family, giving them merchandise and singing an acoustic version of Roar with the help of two guitar players she brought along. She also gave Grace a tour programme adorned with the handwritten message, “Grace, I am so glad I got to hang out with you and do a private concert for you & your family. Love you & am excited 2 c u on stage (sic)!”
The California Gurls star also documented the visit on Instagram Stories, showing Grace, still wearing a bandage around her head, wearing a Witness T-shirt and introduced her to followers as her “new merch model”.
Witness: The Tour concludes in Auckland, New Zealand on 21 August.
