Kelly Clarkson was thrilled with the “magical” dresses she wore to the 2017 American Music Awards (AMAs) on Sunday night (19Nov17).
The American Idol alumni rocked the red carpet at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, arriving with her three-year-old daughter River Rose, whom she shares with husband Brandon Blackstock, as well as her stepdaughter Savannah Blackstock.
For her first outfit of the night, Clarkson rocked an off-the-shoulder gown with black satin and gold sequin panels by designer Christian Siriano, and topped off the ensemble with poker straight hair and a swipe of wine-red lipstick.
Gushing over the Gothic-inspired look, the Because of You hitmaker posted a photo on Twitter, captioning the snap: “@CSiriano thank you so much for my EPIC dresses tonight!!! I have never felt more beautiful and those feathers made me feel like I was Queen of Game of Thrones with a side of DIVA.”
Clarkson opened the show with singer Pink, with the duo winning huge applause for their rendition of R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts, and later stepped out again for a solo performance of her 2003 tune Miss Independent and her new track Love So Soft, from her new album Meaning of Life.
The 35-year-old wore another gown by Siriano when she hit the stage, a black and gold dress with gold beading and dramatic feather detailing around the collar.
“I can’t with this dress man. You are a magical dressmaker with Harry Potter-like skills! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” she captioned a photo of the gown on her Twitter page.
But Clarkson wasn’t the only celebrity to step out in a Siriano design for the night, with Ashlee Simpson also wearing a dress from the former Project Runway contestant. Simpson, who was at the event to support her sister-in-law Tracee Ellis Ross and mother-in-law Diana Ross, dazzled in an ombre gold, pink and black sequin number.
