The Americans’ Keri Russell is reportedly expecting a baby with her co-star Matthew Rhys.
The 39-year-old actress and 41-year-old actor have been dating for around two years, but prefer to keep their romance out of the spotlight. Despite rumors about their relationship it wasn’t confirmed until they were seen with their arms around each other while out in New York City.
Now sources have told Us Weekly the pair is to become parents. “Keri is more than four months along,” an insider said.
The new arrival will be a sibling for Keri’s other children River, eight, and four-year-old Willa, who she has with her former husband Shane Deary.
Neither Keri nor Matthew has commented on the report yet, with both their representatives unable to be reached.
However, another insider has stated Matthew couldn’t be happier about the prospect of becoming a father. “It’s so exciting for them!” the source gushed.
This will be Matthew’s first child, and he’s likely to work hard to keep the tot off the radar. That’s been his take on his romance so far, with the star neatly sidestepping the question when asked about it in 2014.
“That’s the best (rumor) I love,” he laughed, before admitting even his mother had quizzed him about it. “I tell her, ‘You have to take off your Google alerts.'”
The couple play husband and wife Philip and Elizabeth Jennings, who are also spies, in The Americans, which is where they met. Far from being a lovey-dovey pair, their characters usually use their sexual prowess for their own ends, something Keri in particular found refreshing when she first read the script.
“The good thing about the sexuality in the show, at least where I’m coming at it from, is there is a gift in it not having to be this big sweeping romantic movie where you have to be so in love and so beautiful and so sexy,” she previously said. “You’re using the sexuality, at least in the spy end of it, to get something.”
