Kit Harington forced to attend costume party as his ‘Game of Thrones’ character

Actor Kit Harington had to dress up as his “Game of Thrones” character Jon Snow thanks to pressure from his fiancee Rose Leslie.

The hunky star reveals the recent fashion faux pas was committed in Scotland after he waited too long to purchase a costume for a pal’s themed party.

“Recently I went to a 30th birthday party and the theme was ‘bad taste’,” he recalled to Heat magazine. “I was in Aberdeen, and I left it really late to get a costume.

“So I went to the one costume shop that was open… and the woman who worked there said, ‘You know, you really look like the guy from Game of Thrones, and I’ve got a Game of Thrones outfit. And she pulled out a Jon Snow costume, and (fiancee) Rose just whispered in my ear, ‘I won’t love you if you don’t wear it… You should do it.’”

Kit, 30, donned the outfit, but admits many people didn’t get the joke and the whole experience turned out to be “really embarrassing”.

“The people bringing round canapes were looking at me, thinking, ‘You sad man! You’ve come dressed as your character’,” he recalled. “I think the woman in the shop realized who I was as I was leaving. But that’s even sadder – me going to a fancy dress shop and buying a Jon Snow costume.”

Kit and Leslie have been a couple since 2012, when they met on the set of Game of Thrones. The lovebirds announced their engagement in UK newspaper The Times last month (Sep17).
