Michelle and Barack Obama’s daughters Sasha and Malia Obama have moved in together and are now sharing a home in Los Angeles.

While speaking to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush on Monday’s Today show, the former U.S. First Lady recalled a night her daughters Malia and Sasha invited her and Barack to their shared residence in Los Angeles.

“We were going to take them to dinner, and they said, ‘Why don’t you come over to our spot for cocktails?’ And we were like, ‘OK let’s see what this is going to be like,'” Michelle recounted, via Page Six. “The martinis were a little weak. I don’t think they really knew what it was.”

She added that the most surprising moment was when Malia and Sasha asked her and Barack to use coasters for their drinks.

“I’m like, ‘You never used a coaster in my house.’ So now when it’s your stuff, you want to take care of it?” she said.

Malia, 24, is working in television in LA while Sasha, 21, is attending the University of Southern California.

While at university, Sasha met her current boyfriend Clifton Powell Jr., and Malia is rumoured to be dating record producer Dawit Eklund.

Elsewhere in the Today interview, Michelle admitted her daughters weren’t close when they were younger.

“The thing that I love the most is that those two girls are each other’s best friends,” she recalled. “There was a period of time when they couldn’t stand each other.”
