Maren Morris has explained why she works with “egoless” Jack Antonoff.
During a new interview with the New York Times, the singer explained her reasoning behind working with the producer.
“I can’t speak for the other artists that he works with, but my experience with Jack is he’s just so…egoless,” the 33-year-old told the publication. “It’s not about the stats or the accolades.”
Jack, 39, has worked with a long list of superstars including Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent, and Grimes.
“He’s not pompous at all. I just think that I feel safe with him, also. And also Laura Sisk, his engineer, that is the first time I’ve seen a female engineer always in the room,” Maren said.
“Never seen that. I think just his right-hand woman always being there just instantly puts you at ease,” she continued. “That’s why we need a matriarchy…you put more women in a situation, things feel cleaner, things feel safer, for both sexes, not just girls.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the My Church singer, who called out Brittany Kerr in 2022 over alleged transphobic comments, opened up about leaving the country music scene.
“I couldn’t do this circus anymore – feeling like l have to absorb and explain people’s bad behaviors and laugh it off,” she said. “I just couldn’t do that after 2020 particularly. I’ve changed. A lot of things changed about me that year.”
