Mariah Carey has unveiled her new lookalike Barbie doll.
To mark the beginning of the festive season, the self-proclaimed Queen of Christmas has been immortalised in the form of a Barbie doll.
The figurine is dressed in a copy of the sparkling red gown the singer wore in the second music video for her 1994 festive classic All I Want for Christmas Is You. The outfit is complete with grand jewellery and a microphone.
“As a little girl, I didn’t have a lot of toys or things,” the Grammy winner told People. “The one thing I really wanted was Superstar Barbie.”
Mariah shared that when she eventually went on to work with Barbie creators Mattel, she accumulated several of the iconic dolls.
“When I first started working with the people at Barbie, they sent me a bunch of Superstar Barbies and it was really sweet,” she said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Mariah noted that she worked closely with Mattel to make sure her Barbie was perfect.
“I had some notes, yeah,” she acknowledged. “The hair, other things. But when I saw my doll, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is so cute.’ Because it’s based on the Christmas dress that I wear in the second All I Want for Christmas Is You video, which was directed by Joseph Kahn.”
Mariah also revealed one change that had been made to her Barbie’s dress.
“They wouldn’t let the V in the dress be quite as low as it is in the video,” she shared with a giggle. “But I understand because it’s a holiday and everything else… But I’m like, ‘Oh, Barbie, very demure.'”
The performer joins several stars who have been turned into Barbies, including Cher, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Stevie Nicks.
Mariah’s Barbie doll is now available to purchase.
