The 49-year-old is a proud father to nine-year-old Stella, Gia, 11, Isabella, 13, and 20-year-old Alexia, and recently got their names sweetly etched onto his bicep in a delicate cursive writing, alongside his existing body art dedicated to his wife, Luciana Barroso.
“On a whim, my wife said, ‘We’re going to get tattoos today,’ so I got a tattoo of her name,” Matt told Access Hollywood of how he originally got the ‘Lucy’ ink in honor of his wife more than seven years ago. “And it always felt alone on my arm, and I’ve always wanted to put the kids on there.”
He added: “So now, I got the kids on there, and now I’ve got to figure out a way to pull it all together.”
The Oscar winner headed to Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Daniel Winter, who has inked the likes of Sophie Turner, Joe Jonas, Lady Gaga, John Legend, and Chrissy Teigen, to bring his meaningful family tattoo to life.
Daniel shared a photo of the artwork back in August, posting a series of black-and-white snaps on Instagram which featured a close-up shot of the ink, and a picture of Matt smiling during the session.
“FOR HIS KIDS #alexia #isabella #gia #stella Honor tattooing one of my favorite actors! #MATTDAMON,” the tattoo artist wrote in the caption.
The Bourne Identity star, who is well known for keeping his family life private, went on to share how he and Luciana are struggling to cope as their daughters become more embarrassed by being seen out with them.
“One is moving into the phase where it’s like, ‘Pick me up far away,'” he joked about how he’s now serving as a taxi driver to his kids. “But the others, we can still get them right to the door.”
