Matthew McConaughey has claimed dedicated use of a special ointment stopped his hair from thinning.

During a recent interview for LADBible, the Oscar-winning actor discussed how he noticed his hairline was changing in the early 2000s and decided to do something about it.

“You can go back and look at things like The Wedding Planner and those things. I mean, you’ll see, I was losing,” he recalled. “I got a picture, turn of the millennium party in 2000 in Jamaica, I was looking down laughing and there was a baseball-sized bald spot on the top of my head.”

Matthew went on to share how he shaved his head and massaged an ointment into his scalp “once a day for 10 minutes” to try and combat the thinning.

“I was fully committed to it. No Propecia, no nothing, it was just manual labour,” the 52-year-old continued, noting that he is unsure why the process worked so well. “All I can tell you is it came back. I have more hair now than I had in 1999.”

In addition, the father-of-three maintained that he has never undergone a hair transplant, even though a doctor once approached him and revealed another surgeon was spreading a rumour that he was responsible for the transformation.

“(The doctor) goes, ‘Can I just look at your hair? Can I just feel it and see?’ I said, ‘Yeah man,'” recalled Matthew. “And he goes, ‘You don’t have transplants!’ I said, ‘That’s what I said, of course I don’t.'”
