The Gathering is a program of Lyngblomsten’s Home- and Community-Based Services, serving people experiencing early- to mid-stage dementia (memory loss) and giving respite to caregivers who desire a break. The program is offered in collaborative partnerships with churches who provide the facilities to host The Gathering and/or provide volunteers. The Gathering serves over 100 participants each year.  With nearly 300 volunteers metro wide, The Gathering, coordinated by Lyngblomsten, offers a day of fellowship and fun activities while giving respite to the caregivers.

Personally, Carolyn has been a long distance caregiver and medical Power of Attorney for 3 parents with dementia. Carolyn loves to speak on things she is passionate about including The Gathering, being present with people with dementia, and the reality of caregiving for those with dementia.

We seek volunteers who would like to make a difference in the lives of people still living in the community who are experiencing dementia. Volunteers receive comprehensive training so they are able to plan the day’s activities and promote socialization for their participants.
