Meghan Markle says ‘not many people have asked if I’m OK’

“Not many people have asked if I’m ok … it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Meghan Markle reveals to ITV News about how the media spotlight has left her struggling to cope while becoming a mom.

Meghan has guest edited the September issue of British Vogue with the theme “Forces for Change.” Royal officials say the issue coming out Aug. 2 features “change-makers united by their fearlessness in breaking barriers” and includes a conversation between Meghan and former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama. “Look I would say, any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging and then when you have a newborn,” she explained. “Especially as a woman, it’s really, it’s a lot. So you add this (media scrutiny), on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed.”

Asked how she was coping, Meghan responded: “Thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”

Tom then probed, “And the answer is, would it be fair to say, not really OK? That it’s really been a struggle?”

The former Suits star candidly replied, “Yes.”

Harry also revealed to broadcaster Tom in a new ITV documentary filmed on their trip, broadcast in the U.K. on Sunday, that being photographed in public reminded him of his mum’s tragic death in 1997. She was killed in a car crash in Paris, France after her vehicle had been pursued by paparazzi.

Earlier this month, the Duke of Sussex took the rare step of openly attacking media organisations, accusing them of “bullying” his wife, shortly after she launched legal action against the Mail on Sunday newspaper for printing her private letter to her dad.
