Miley Cyrus has announced the title and release date of her new album!

Younger Now will drop on September 29th, almost for years after the release of her last big, commercial album, Bangerz (she released an experimental album, Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz in 2015.) Two songs from the new album have already been released: “Malibu” and “Inspired” and they definitely have a mellower, more country vibe than her previous efforts. I have a soft spot for the weird, stoner persona that she’s been rocking the past few years, but I respect that she wants to try something different.
The title of the album reminds me of Bob Dylan’s song (famously covered by The Byrds) “My Back Pages” which has the lyric, “But I was so much older then, I younger than that now.”
If Miley doesn’t cover this song, I will be disappointed. I think she’d do a great job and it fits with the tone of her new material.
We’ll get more of a taste of Miley’s new music when she performs at the VMAs on August 27th.
