MOA, you’re awesome! Seriously!
Yesterday morning this tweet went out, setting a precedent for more malls and stores to follow suit.
Since 2012, Black Friday has started to seep into Thanksgiving Thursday at MOA (and other retailers), and that’s not fair or fun. Pushing deal seekers to leave their families earlier and earlier to quickly flip their emotions from gratitude to greed is not what our forefathers intended for the day of Thanks, I’m confident.
So, Mall of America, thank you from the bottom of my never-went-shopping-on-Thanksgiving-anyway heart.
(And special recognition to Costco, Home Depot, Nordstrom, Gamestop, TJ Maxx, Crate and Barrel, and Staples who have also made the decision to close stores on Thanksgiving Day.)
