None of the nominees in the Directing category for the 92nd Academy Awards are women.
Only five women have ever been nominated in the category, and Kathryn Bigelow is the only woman to ever win the award for “The Hurt Locker” at the 2010 awards.
Issa Rae gives the best reaction after not a single woman was nominated for Best Directing at the 2020 Oscars. #OscarNoms

Another year of Oscars, another year with no female directors in the running. As we head into the 92nd Academy Awards only five women have ever been nominated for best director. More in @latimes: https://t.co/edLwbRmuXX

tfw Florence Pugh perfectly describes why it’s ridiculous that Greta Gerwig wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for directing Little Women — a category wherein only men were nominated — and a movie about women’s work not being deemed as valuable or important as men’s work. pic.twitter.com/XCYjHIcsiP

The failure to acknowledge female directors does not surprise me, nor the absence of my beloved Taron. But really? No Uncut Gems? #OscarNoms
